گروه تازه‌ای از پیشمرگه‌های کرد برای دفاع از شهر کوبانی به شمال سوریه رفته‌اند. بنا به گزارش‌ها تا کنون بیش از ۷۰۰ نفر از مبارزان کرد در نبرد با "دولت اسلامی" جان خود را از دست داده‌اند.

از آغاز حمله پیکارجویان گروه "دولت اسلامی" (داعش سابق) تا امروز، صدها نفر از مبارزان کرد کشته و زخمی شده‌اند.

بنا به اطلاعیه فرماندهی ارتش اقلیم خودگردان کردستان در شمال عراق، از ماه ژوئن تا امروز ۷۲۲ مبارز مسلح کرد (پیشمرگه) در نبردها جان خود را از دست داده‌اند. در همین مدت بیش از ۳۵۰۰ رزمنده کرد زخمی شده‌اند.

گروه تروریستی "دولت اسلامی" مناطقی را در سوریه و عراق تصرف کرده و در آن‌ها "خلافت" تشکیل داده است. سلطه این‌گروه در همه جا با وحشت و ترور همراه بوده و گزارش‌های مخوفی از شیوه‌های خشن و بیرحمانه آن‌ها علیه مخالفان و افراد غیرنظامی منتشر شده است.

در شمال عراق، کردها نیروی اصلی هستند که در برابر حملات جهادگران مسلح پایداری می‌کنند. جامعه جهانی، از جمله آلمان فدرال از نظر نظامی از کردها حمایت می‌کند.

دومین گروه پیشمرگه‌های عراق در کوبانی

در شمال سوریه، نبرد بر سر شهر استراتژیک عین‌العرب (معروف به کوبانی) در شرق رود فرات و نزدیک مرز ترکیه، از اهمیت زیادی برخوردار است.

پیکارجویان "دولت اسلامی" از چند ماه پیش به گلوله‌باران این شهر ادامه می‌دهند و با تمام توان تلاش می‌کنند آن را تصرف کنند. اما در هفته‌های گذشته ضربات شدیدی را متحمل شده‌اند.

ائتلافی به سرکردگی ارتش امریکا حملات هوایی بیشماری به مواضع "دولت اسلامی" در عراق و سوریه انجام داده‌است.

آگاهان به اوضاع منطقه تخمین می‌زنند که "دولت اسلامی" بیش از ۶۰۰ نفر از افراد خود را از دست داده است.

بنا به گزارش‌ها، گروه تازه‌ای شامل ۱۵۰ نفر از پیشمرگه‌های کرد عراق وارد کوبانی شده‌اند.

آن‌ها از شهر اربیل در شمال عراق با هواپیما به جنوب ترکیه پرواز کرده، سپس با عبور از مرز خود را به شمال سوریه رسانده‌اند. پیشمرگه‌ها به اسلحه و مهمات مناسبی مجهز هستند.

در ماه اکتبر گذشته، ترکیه سرانجام زیر فشار ایالات متحده و کشورهای غربی به گروهی ۱۵۰ نفره از مبارزان کرد عراقی اجازه داد که با عبور از خاک آن کشور به شمال سوریه سفر کنند.

دولت ترکیه همچنان رابطه پرتنشی با مبارزان کرد دارد و نگران آن است که پیشرفت و پیروزی کردها در عراق و سوریه به تقویت گروه چپ‌گرای "پ کاکا" منجر شود که از نظر ترکیه گروهی تروریستی شناخته می‌شود.

Worldwide attention has focused today on the death of Ziad Abu Ein, the Palestinian minister in charge of the Settlements and Annexation Wall portfolio, after he participated in a nonviolent demonstration north of Ramallah, in the West Bank. He had joined Palestinian farmers from the village of Turmusaya who were protesting today, Human Rights Day (10 December), to regain access to their land. While the circumstances of Abu Ein’s death are not yet clear, the reason for the demonstration and the way Israeli security forces handle Palestinian protests are all too familiar.

The demonstrators were holding saplings to plant on their plots of land, to which they have been barred access since the establishment of Israeli outpost Adei Ad east of their village. Such settlements, which are officially unauthorized by the state, are yet another means by which Israel has taken over land in the West Bank, excluding Palestinians from vast areas there. Although portrayed as the action of extremist settlers, the establishment of these outposts is in fact a state enterprise assisted by all government bodies, whether actively or by omission, a fact that has been well documented ( See “The Road to Dispossession” by human rights organization Yesh Din for a case study of Adei Ad, and “Access Denied” by B’Tselem for details of this policy implemented throughout the West Bank).

The protest today accompanied a High Court petition for the evacuation of the Adei Ad outpost, filed by the residents through Yesh Din. As in other cases in the West Bank, the decision to demonstrate to regain access to the land was made after all other avenues had been exhausted, including letters to authorities, legal action, involvement of international actors, media reports, and more. None of these efforts helped the landowners reclaim their property, nor did they improve the conditions of Palestinian communities harmed by the existence and expansion of the outpost.

Any form of Palestinian protest against the occupation, even when it is entirely nonviolent (as was apparently the case today) is unlawful under the Israeli martial law that applies to Palestinians in the West Bank. Israeli security forces are authorized to disperse any Palestinian demonstration, even when participants are nonviolent (see B’Tselem position paper on the right to demonstrate in the Occupied Territories), and often do so. To that end, they use crowd control weapons including stun grenades, tear gas grenades and “skunk” liquid (see B’Tselem report “Israel’s Use of Crowd Control Weapons in the West Bank”), as well as physical violence. Israeli security forces also arrest and prosecute demonstration organizers and participants, even when they are nonviolent. Needless to say, it is very rare for such measures to be taken against settlers protesting nonviolently. To the best of B’Tselem’s knowledge, and based on footage published by the media, the forces dispersed the protest today with tear gas grenades and stun grenades and also used physical violence to block the procession, in which Minister Abu Ein was participating.

The state sends settlers to forcefully take over Palestinian land in the West Bank and then sends the army to forcefully silence protest against the land grab – sometimes, at a lethal price. That is how Human Rights Day looks for people who live under occupation, where even demonstrating against dispossession is not allowed. That is what life, and sometimes death, under occupation looks like.

TURMUSIYA, West Bank (Reuters) - A Palestinian minister died shortly after being hit by Israeli soldiers during a protest on Wednesday in the occupied West Bank,

Palestinialed that Palestinian demonstrators near the West Bank village of Turmusaya prevented an Israeli medic from providing aid to a Palestinian Authority official who collapsed after he shoved and verbally abused Israeli officers on the scene.

In a live report for the UK’s Sky News broadcaster, Middle East correspondent Tom Rayner reported that Ziad Abu Ein, a convicted terrorist who was appointed by the PA to organize campaigns against Jewish settlements in the West Bank, was lying on the ground “unconscious” after the clash – although separate footage shot by Kremlin broadcaster RT displayed Abu Ein conscious and sitting up after his altercation with the IDF officers.

“When he’s on the floor, an Israeli medic does come up to him, she tries to clear an area around him, but Palestinians pick him up and take him straight to a vehicle,” Rayner said, in footage viewed by The Algemeiner. The medic was “not able to deliver any first aid,” Rayner continued, and Abu Ein was “declared dead when he got to a hospital in Ramallah.”

As The Algemeiner reported today, Rayner had earlier said on Twitter that “When Abu Ein is unconscious on ground, Israel medic attempts to assist, asks crowd to make space, Palestinians rush him to a vehicle instead.” Rayner also reported that Abu Ein repeatedly asked the Israeli officer he clashed with for his name, calling him a “dog.”

As a result of Abu Ein’s death, the PA announced that it was suspending security cooperation with Israel. PA President Mahmoud Abbas lauded Abu Ein as a “martyr,” while PA official Hanan Ashrawi accused Israel of having carried out an “extrajudicial killing.”

Another reporter on the scene, Roi Sharon of Israel’s Channel 1o broadcaster, described the demonstration as “low key.” Abu Ein, he said, collapsed some five minutes after his confrontation with the Israeli Border Police, and was pronounced dead an hour later. Sharon also said that Palestinian claims that Abu Ein had been choked and attacked with a rifle butt were false.

Abu Ein’s death marks the second time in less than a month that the PA has accused Israel of murdering a Palestinian without establishing the facts. In November, the PA accused “six Jewish men” of having lynched a Palestinian bus driver in eastern Jerusalem. An autopsy ruled out “foul play” as the cause of the death, concluding that the driver likely committed suicide.
