She gazed at the lost garden
Light rays dazzled our sight

We saw the green glory of paradise
Embrace her, above a pavilion of stars

Paradisal roots sprinkling
Drops of love on Palestine

Her gentle angelic hands
Sowing whispering hope

After a long mourning
Our hearts find refuge

A symphony of roses planted on
The agonized skin of Palestine

She is the witness of suffering,
martyrs… dark al-Naqba night

Promise of garden’s return
O Rose! Angel of Palestine

Gardenias

The pedestrian army
know nothing of gardenias.
I ride my horse … chain gloves
on these piano hands – poetry books
in my backpack.
Gardenias … easily destroyed;
the masses prefer plastic imitations.

Palestine: my home -
every grain of sand,
tree, shrub, star and stone -
Declaring … sovereign land -
from the river to the sea;
gardenias … listen: heart, hand-to-hand,
soon … Palestine will be free.
